January | Hosting a Dinner Party
Last fall, the very wonderful Greta Johnson asked if I would collaborate on an event for Chicago Humanities Fest. The theme for the year was MOVEMENT. What immediately came to mind was how to move the ideas presented at any given CHF event into a new conversation. For me, that’s dinner parties; getting folks together and letting ideas (and food) flow with generosity.
A dinner party is not revolutionary. It isn’t a panacea. It isn’t even all that big of a deal, but a lot of folks say that it brings them a degree of anxiety to take on. So I put together this little “How to Guide” packet thing because I love a dinner party and want you to have people over. Maybe they will return the favor.
With every passing article about how divided and isolated our society is, I hope this will make a little bit of difference for someone. If not, at least make the pickle soup.
Click HERE to read the packet with all of the good graphic work that CHF did to gussy it out of my word doc doldrums.
Thanks again to Greta for bringing me in on this and to the incredible team at Chicago Humanities Fest for putting on a really good series. Everyone should check it out.
